Senior Inspector – Civil
Location: Delray Beach, FL
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Inspector to provide onsite construction inspection and field coordination services for civil infrastructure and construction management projects in Delray Beach, Florida.
The Senior Inspector will be responsible for monitoring and documenting daily construction activities to verify that work is being performed in accordance with approved plans, specifications, contract documents, applicable standards, and project requirements. This individual will work closely with the Senior Construction Manager, Owner, design team, contractors, inspectors, testing laboratories, and other project stakeholders to help ensure quality, compliance, safety, and successful project delivery.
Responsibilities
- Perform daily onsite inspections of civil construction activities to verify compliance with approved plans, specifications, contract documents, and project requirements.
- Maintain a consistent onsite presence during active construction operations.
- Monitor contractor activities, workmanship, materials, equipment, and construction methods.
- Identify and document construction deficiencies, non-conforming work, conflicts, and potential issues.
- Prepare detailed daily inspection reports documenting work performed, labor and equipment onsite, materials used, weather conditions, quantities, project progress, and significant events.
- Document construction activities through photographs, field notes, inspection reports, and project logs.
- Review construction drawings, specifications, shop drawings, approved submittals, and other contract documents as needed to support field inspections.
- Verify that materials and installation methods comply with project plans, specifications, and approved submittals.
- Monitor construction progress and communicate potential schedule impacts or field issues.
- Observe and document required testing, inspections, and quality control activities.
- Verify quantities for payment applications and assist with progress evaluations.
- Assist with reviewing Requests for Information (RFIs), submittals, field change documentation.
- Attend and participate in construction progress meetings, coordination meetings, and field inspections.
- Communicate field conditions, construction concerns, and project issues to the Senior Construction Manager and project team.
- Maintain accurate and organized project records, inspection logs, photographs, reports, and other construction documentation.
- Monitor punch list items and verify completion of corrective work.
- Assist with substantial completion, final inspections, project closeout, and final acceptance activities.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Engineering Technology, Architecture, or a related field preferred. Equivalent construction experience will also be considered.
- Experience with construction observation, inspection, construction management, or field engineering.
- Experience on commercial, municipal, institutional, transportation, water/wastewater, or public infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and contract documents.
- Experience documenting daily construction activities and preparing field reports.
- Knowledge of construction sequencing, quality assurance, and contract administration.
- Ability to identify construction deficiencies and communicate findings effectively.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and construction management/documentation software such as Bluebeam, Procore, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar platforms.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
